Beach has been granted exclusive rights, following a contested tender process, to negotiate a Production Sharing Agreement to explore an approximately 5,400 square kilometre Block on the southern half of Lake Tanganyika, part of the East African Rift, in western Tanzania.  Oil seeps and surface slicks are well known on Lake Tanganyika and significant discoveries have been made in the Ugandan portion of the Rift.  The final terms of a Production Sharing Agreement will be negotiated between Beach and the Tanzanian Government before work commences.
